Harry Houdini has fascinated people ever since his death. Here’s a few of the reasons why
- His real name wasn’t Harry or Houdini. He was born Erik Weisz, then changed it to Ehrich, and was nicknamed Ehrie. He later changed his last name to Houdini, in honor of another magician. Other stage names include, ‘Eric the Great,’ ‘The King of Cards,’ and ‘Eric, Prince of the Air.’
- He first performed magic tricks and shows at age 9
- Houdini was also a trapeze artist
- Unsurprisingly, he was fascinated with death, and bought the first electric chair
- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was his friend, and was convinced Houdini could communicated with the dead without being aware of it
